Over the past months, things became very quiet around the club after Steffen was redeployed. Still, letting the project he built together with a handful of dedicated comrades simply disappear would be a real loss, especially since the interest in our board-gaming and tabletop community is still very much alive. For this reason, I have decided to bring the club back to life.
We are currently coordinating with MWA to put everything back on an official and solid foundation. Our first event is planned for January and will focus on the Battle of the Bulge, covering the events between 16 December 1944 and 25 January 1945. This battle was the last major German offensive on the Western Front, launched in the Ardennes under harsh winter conditions in an attempt to split Allied lines and force a negotiated peace. Despite being surprised, outnumbered, and facing brutal weather, U.S. forces held key positions, absorbed the initial blow, and then counterattacked, ultimately stopping the fascist advance and helping to pave the way for the liberation of Western Europe.
In many ways, this theme reflects our own situation. The club experienced a setback, yet just like the determined pushback in the winter of 1944–45, we are committed to standing together, resisting the fade-out, and moving forward with renewed determination.
I would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Steffen for his motivation, time, and the foundation he created for this club. We hope to cross paths with him again, as he is not far away, and perhaps he will build something similar at his new location. This may give us the opportunity to stay connected and possibly host joint events in the future.
A small administrative note:
Because it is unclear which former members are still on site and still interested in being part of the club, we have temporarily deactivated all accounts. If you wish to remain an active member, please send us a brief message. We will reactivate your account immediately so we can maintain a clear and accurate overview of our community.
Until then, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to rebuilding this club, reconnecting as a community, and enjoying many great board-game and tabletop moments together in the year ahead.
